The Salvage Forum reflects the views of the world’s hull and cargo insurers in the context of the development and operation of Lloyd’s Standard Form of Salvage Agreement (including SCOPIC) (“LOF”) and the wider treatment of salvage as it impacts upon marine property insurers.

The Forum consists of members from various countries, all with marine insurance experience.

Since its formation in 2011 the Salvage Forum’s members have represented marine property underwriters’ views in many contexts including:

  • Lloyd’s Salvage Group (responsible for monitoring the wording and operation of LOF);
  • The SCOPIC Committee (responsible for monitoring the terms and operation of the Special Compensation P & I Clubs Clause);
  • Comité Maritime International (“CMI”) sub-committee on the review of the York-Antwerp Rules on General Average;
  • The CMI’s Conferences in 2012 (Beijing) and 2016 (New York).

  • CMI GA Guidelines and Security Forms

    Published March 2023

    In an effort to make the complex system of general average (GA) more accessible to parties not familiar with the subject the Comité Maritime International (CMI) has, through its Standing Committee (SC) on General Average, produced the following handbook which, in its annex, also contains recommended standard security forms for general average cases. The Guidelines as well as the security forms have also been approved by the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) and the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS).
